AI Signal Lab: Terms of Service

By creating an account on AI Signal Lab (the “Platform”) and clicking I agree, you accept these Terms in full. If you do not agree, please do not register or use the Platform.

AI Signal Lab is an Indian-language annotation marketplace that connects clients (research labs, AI companies) with vetted annotators (“AI Trainers”), reviewers, and project managers.

• You must provide accurate name, email, and phone number at signup. Phone is verified via SMS OTP.
• You are responsible for keeping your password secure. AI Signal Lab will never ask for your password by email or chat.
• A single account belongs to a single person; sharing logins voids your eligibility and earnings.
• You may sign out of any device or sign in elsewhere; only one active session is allowed at a time.

This section covers what was previously the standalone “Data handling” consent.

• Account data (name, email, phone): used to identify you, communicate task status, and pay you.
• Profile data (region, languages, demographics, workspace type, devices): used to match you with tasks for which you're qualified.
• Work data (annotations you submit, time on task, interaction events): used to evaluate quality, route review, and compute payouts.
• Government ID (collected only at payout time): used once for identity verification; stored encrypted; not shared with clients.
• We retain data for as long as your account is active. You can soft-delete your account at any time from the profile page.

This section covers what was previously the “Communications” consent.

You agree to receive task-related SMS, email, and in-app notifications: assignment offers, deadline reminders, payout confirmations, and review decisions. Marketing emails are separate and require an explicit opt-in from your profile settings.

This section covers what was previously the “Demographic use” consent.

AI Signal Lab builds a representative pool of annotators across Indian regions, languages, and demographic groups. By accepting these terms, you allow AI Signal Lab to use the profile you provide (state, settlement type, education, occupation class, age band, linguistic region, language proficiency) to:

• match you to tasks that fit your background;
• ensure fairness in who gets which projects;
• compute eligibility for projects with explicit demographic requirements (e.g. “Marathi speakers from Maharashtra”).

Demographic data is never shared with clients in identifiable form. Project deliveries only carry aggregate, anonymised metadata.

This section covers what was previously the “Diversity research” consent.

AI Signal Lab may use anonymised, aggregated information about the composition of its annotator pool to publish reports about representativeness of Indian-language AI datasets. No individual annotator is identifiable in these reports. We do not share raw demographic data with researchers outside AI Signal Lab.

• Per-hour rates are set by each project and shown on the discover page before you apply.
• A one-time ₹50 bonus is credited when you complete your profile and pass the qualifying assessment.
• Payouts require identity verification with a government-issued ID (used once, encrypted at rest, never shared).
• Disputed amounts are resolved within 14 days of being raised.

• Do not use AI tools (LLMs, autocomplete) to generate annotations unless a project explicitly allows it.
• Do not copy task content out of the Platform; copy / paste / screenshot is disabled and attempted leaks may result in account suspension.
• Do not share another person's account, or annotate on multiple accounts.

You can soft-delete your account from your profile page at any time. After soft delete, your account is hidden from all platform listings and you can no longer log in, but we retain your work history and demographic profile for the period required to honour pending payouts and meet legal record-keeping obligations.

We may update these terms. Material changes are announced in-app and via email at least 7 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
